Nouns may only bind you in notion. Perhaps an adverb with an adjective at once may suggest a glimpse into your continuous manifestation of a perpetually elemental force. Yet, you are Nature – and both ends of life meet in your palm.
Your fiercely gentle paradox of existence builds and disintegrates, changes, adapts and yet, continuously bears life, engulfing and containing all of the human and earth experiences. The extremes of this simple neutrality deem redundant any qualitative attempts to describe you. Although only eternity may be the judge of your equilibrium, I dare to relate to you, questioning my own claims of objectivity.
The experience of you undeniably inhabits my work. That “carnal response” of connectedness weaves through the simultaneous existence of tension and integrity, of wholeness and rupture, often within the frame of the individual–collective where cultural, ecological and historical values are constantly negotiated.
Investigating this dynamic frame of paradox I feel your womb - a sacred crucifix which channels the violent rebirth of spirit into matter. A skull of humanity which dries hollow to bear a kin of creation, of empowerment, beauty; a kind of violence, terror and destruction.
I know of the mother – my Taurus Moon, her uterus - a black box of corporal memory. I know of the woman – my Scorpio Venus who roams the fixed ice fields of transmutation, cursed to melt steel blades, blessed to weave her pendants with the wounds of fire. She reconciles the annihilation of the body and the reverence of existence, inhabiting a pre-eternity which may be easily taken for granted but glorious in its ability to instil humility.
In that space I find me making while being made.
